Debbie Collins is a true, proud Westie! The last 28 years of Debbie’s career has been serving in the City’s Clerk’s Office. She first served as a Registrar of Vital Statistics under William Donegan. She then served as Assistant City Clerk under Mary Tracy and was appointed to City Clerk mid-term. She was elected City Clerk in her own right in 1991.
Debbie has consistently been a top-vote receiver and has earned a reputation as a honest, hard-working City Clerk from Democrats and Republicans. Debbie is also a Certified Town Clerk from the Connecticut’s Town Clerk’s Association and is a Certified Municipal Clerk. She served on the Secretary of State’s Election Enforcement Commission Liaison Committee from 2009-2016. She is currently attending Charter Oak Community College.
Debbie is no newcomer when it comes to the city of West Haven or its politics. Her ability to work with Democrats no matter who they are aligned with, as well with Republicans is one of her greatest strengths. Debbie has vast experience with local government and how it operates. Debbie is a unifier who knows how to get things done.
Debbie has been married to Tim Collins for 33 years. They have three grown children, Julie, Dustin and Jill who all attended West Haven High School and three grandchildren, Collin, Alex and Emilie.
